Daniel Pearl Foundation Calls For Musicians to Join the 10th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Daniel Pearl Foundation (www.danielpearl.org) today announced the 10th annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days (www.danielpearlmusicdays.org) will be held worldwide October 1-31, 2011.
To commemorate Danny Pearl's October 10th birthday, musicians of all genres are invited to use the universal language of music to spread a message of hope and to unite people across geographical and cultural borders in a quest for a better world.
All music events are invited to participate in World Music Days by adding a brief dedication in the theme of "Harmony for Humanity" from the stage or in the printed program. Performances scheduled outside the month of October are also welcome to be featured as Tribute Events.
Registration is free and now available at the Daniel Pearl World Music Days Web site, along with individual Artist Profile Pages to help artists promote their music and events. There is no financial obligation to participate; it is intended to share a message of peace as widely as possible.
"At the 10th anniversary of Daniel Pearl World Music Days, we reaffirm our conviction that Danny's music has not been silenced and that, standing united, humanity will triumph and harmony will prevail," said Judea and Ruth Pearl, parents of Daniel Pearl and Co-Founders of the Daniel Pearl Foundation.
The Daniel Pearl Foundation was formed in 2002 in memory of journalist/musician Daniel Pearl to promote the ideals that inspired his life and work. The Foundation is active domestically and internationally to promote dialogue and understanding, to counter cultural and religious hatred, to encourage responsible and balanced journalism, and to promote peace through music.
Honorary Committee members of the Daniel Pearl World Music Days include Herbie Hancock, Elton John, Alison Krauss, R.E.M., Yo-Yo Ma, Matisyahu, Itzhak Perlman, Ravi Shankar, and Barbra Streisand among other distinguished musicians.
"Last October a record number 1644 musical events in 84 countries took part in this global initiative; this year we are aiming for more than 2000 events to ring the world with music in Harmony for Humanity," said Paul Karlsen, Program Director of the Daniel Pearl Foundation.
