Chance Patterson Named Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Communications for Harpo Studios

CHICAGO, Aug. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Chance Patterson has been named Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Communications for Harpo Studios.

As Harpo's senior communications executive, Patterson will be responsible for managing Harpo's external and internal communications functions, including corporate communications and media relations. The announcement was made by Sheri Salata and Erik Logan, presidents of Harpo and OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, to whom Patterson will report. He will be based in Chicago, effective immediately.

Previously, Patterson served as Vice President of International Communications for Discovery Communications, Inc., where he managed the development and implementation of all communications strategies for Discovery Networks International, which distributes 21 television brands to more than 200 countries and one billion subscribers worldwide.

Prior to Discovery, Patterson spent nearly nine years at Sirius XM Radio where he served as Vice President of Corporate Communications and Government Affairs. In that role, he oversaw the execution of strategic public relations and government affairs campaigns that were integral in launching satellite radio to more than 20 million subscribers and gaining regulatory approval for the XM/Sirius merger. Before joining Sirius XM, Patterson served as Managing Director of Government Relations and Strategic Relocation for KPMG LLP. Preceding his work with KPMG, he held various legal positions with Tucker Flyer & Lewis and Calfee, Halter & Griswold.

Patterson holds a Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University.
