Los Lobos, El Guero Y Su Banda Centenario and Comedian Alex Reymundo Perform at Voces Unidas Free Concert at 82nd Annual LULAC National Convention

Top Latin Entertainers Support LULAC's Call for Unity in Cincinnati

WASHINGTON, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With the backdrop of the 2011 National Convention & Expo in Cincinnati, LULAC has once again called upon the Latino entertainment community to unite and raise their collective voices through a star-studded concert with a cause, Voces Unidas or Voices United.

Top Latin entertainment Los Lobos, El Guero Y Su Banda Centenario and Comedian Alex Reymundo will perform Thursday evening, June 30 at Cincinnati's Duke Energy Convention Center, site of the 82nd Annual LULAC National Convention. Voces Unidas is a free concert with top Latin talent held in conjunction with the convention. This year's event continues a tradition of Latino entertainers supporting LULAC's call for a more united America.

"LULAC first and foremost addresses serious issues addressing our community, and this year we want to encourage partnerships, because together we can achieve so much more," remarked Margaret Moran, LULAC President. "At the same time, we want to give a gift of stellar Latin music and comedy to the Cincinnati Latino community, which now numbers 125,000."

Los Lobos, the three-time Grammy-winning band, is on tour now, treating audiences to the sounds of classic Los Lobos tunes in addition to material from their new album The Town and the City. After 34 years of making music, Los Lobos is still churning out inventive and inspiring music. Los Lobos is one of the premier Chicano Rock bands in America.

El Guero Y Su Banda Centenario are rising stars among the Regional Mexican music genre. Fresh off a 2011 Grammy Award in the Banda Category, the group is best known for its romantic style of Regional Mexican music.

Alex Reymundo boasts two one-hour specials "Red-Nexican" and "Hick-Spanic" that have aired on Showtime and Comedy Central. Reymundo spent three years touring with Blue Collar's Bad Boy Ron White and is one of "The Original Latin Kings of Comedy."

This is the fourth year that LULAC has joined forces with TV and music producer David Chavez and LatinPointe to use music as a unifying theme in rallying support from the Latin entertainment and political world.

The concert is a highlight of the LULAC's National Convention. This year's theme is Bridging the Gap: Expanding the Latino Agenda Into New Frontiers.

Voces Unidas will be free to the community, but ticketed. Tickets can be picked up from event sponsors in the Expo Hall at the LULAC Convention. The Expo is free and open to the public Wednesday, June 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, July 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Event sponsors are Macy's, MillerCoors, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Caesars Entertainment and Telemundo/NBCUniversal.
