One unique example is Student Studio: Bonnaroo. In partnership with the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, students from several Art Institutes schools are producing projects to make their creative mark on this year's festival, June 9-12. The assignment was to create 15 student projects across all four areas of study at The Art Institutes: design, media arts, fashion and culinary.

Student Studio: Bonnaroo projects include:

Students from The New England Institute of Art were commissioned to design an exclusive Bonnaroo festival poster, a poster for the band Mumford & Sons and a festival t-shirt to be sold online and at merchandise locations onsite.

"It was the coolest thing to create designs that tons of people will see, and work on a real project with real-world clients," said Benjamin MacDonald, a recent graphic design alumnus from The New England Institute of Art. MacDonald partnered with another recent graphic design alumnus, Brandon McArdle to create the posters and t-shirt.

Five fashion students from The Art Institute of Portland developed eco-friendly fashion collections that will be in the first-ever onsite Bonnaroo Fashion Show. "The students wanted to provide eco-conscious fashion options that people would want to wear and didn't look too plain or frumpy," said Sue Bonde, department director of fashion programs at The Art Institute of Portland. The Bonnaroo audience will see dresses made out of died dryer sheets and even old Bonnaroo marketing materials. "It's experimental design that makes a statement," Bonde said. The fashion students also created merchandising materials attendees can buy to commemorate their Bonnaroo experience. The five-student fashion team includes: Germaine Barnard, China Hamilton, Hayley Fexer, Devon Burrus and Nancy Simon.

While these students are busy designing posters and trendy, organic garments for Bonnaroo, students from different Art Institutes schools such as The Art Institute of California - Los Angeles and The Art Institute of Tennessee - Nashville are hard at work on projects including creating festival promotional videos, planning meals for the festival artists and crew and creating animations for the festival- among other projects.
