Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) discussed contracting out policies at DoD and his oversight amendment offered during the debate on the FY12 National Defense Authorization Act. The amendment, which ultimately failed, would have required DoD to meet a minimum accounting standard for many of its contracts.

AFGE General Counsel David Borer then addressed AFGE's defamation lawsuit against the Treasury union during the election to become the exclusive union representative of Transportation Security Officers. In addition, AFGE Defense Conference Chair Don Hale discussed AFGE's ability to defeat pay-for-performance models such as the National Security Personnel System and how this will benefit TSOs currently in the Performance Accountability and Standards System.

Lastly, Union Sportsmen's Alliance Director of Recruitment and National Events Nate Whiteman previewed USA's upcoming Philadelphia area sporting clays shoot June 25 and Boots on the Ground conservation program.
