With United Way of the National Capital Area's sponsored film, "Strings Dream"
WASHINGTON, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being released by United Way of the National Capital Area:
WHAT:United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA) will join area youth in a viewing and follow-up discussion of the independent film, "Strings Dream." The event will take place at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., Friday evening, June 17 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
During the event, students will have the opportunity to hear from area youth that star in the film, as well as adults who can speak with authority and compassion on the two perspective of bullying: the bully and the one being bullied.
1 out of 4 kids report being bullied and 1 out of 5 admit bullying another child. This national issue is at the forefront of area churches who are hosting town hall discussions to foster awareness and strategies for addressing the impacts of bullying.
"Strings Dream" was written by Dreams Work Inc. founders, Anwan "Big G" Glover and Daniel Bradley; directed by Jamal Sprately, founder of Circle of Hope; in partnership with Community of Hope A.M.E. Church and sponsored by United Way of the National Capital Area.
