David Archuleta "Breaks the Silence" with Invisible Children in Nashville, TN

100,000 young people have pledged 25 hours of silence to conclude Invisible Children's national '25' campaign; the organization is hosting events in 18 cities across the country where partnering musical artists will "break the silence"

SAN DIEGO, April 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Invisible Children is excited to announce David Archuleta as the most recently added headliner for their event: Break the Silence, which is the end of their campaign '25' that launched earlier this year. The former American Idol contestant, one of the youngest ever, will take the stage at Lipscomb University's Allen arena in Nashville, TN, on Monday, April 25th, to raise awareness and funds to end Africa's longest running war.Mumford & Sons was announced earlier this week as the featured performer in Austin, TX.

Music has always been an integral part of Invisible Children's awareness efforts. The organization has participated in over 25 national music tours, been the beneficiary of music festivals such as CMJ, has official partnerships with La Blogotheque, Spin, Filter, and Windish, and continues to feature new music in their documentaries. The media-based company understands the cultural impact of music and has worked with countless artists to communicate their mission in unique and relevant ways.

The event will be in 18 venues across the country and requires participants to raise at least $25 for The Protection Plan, Invisible Children's work to protect people from Lord's Resitance Army violence in central Africa. A live video feed of select performances will allow participants who are not able to attend events in person to connect with the thousands of others who will be simultaneously breaking the silence across the country.

'25' is now on track to raise close to $1.5 million for the Protection Plan which will build the region's first rehabilitation center, implement an early warning security network, and continue to rescue Joseph Kony's child soldiers.

'25,' which launched mid-February, is Invisible Children's fourth and most ambitious national campaign to-date. The innovative methods and success of the campaign was recently featured on the "The Oprah Winfrey Show" after the cultural icon invited Invisible Children's founders onto the program for the third time.
