"Cesar's Last Fast" filmmakers to screen extraordinary new documentary and join over 150 children in an inspiring student-led panel discussion

LOS ANGELES, March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --

Who:

"Cesar's Last Fast" director Richard Ray Perez and producer Molly O'Brien, with special guests, joining over 150 inner-city students from Immaculate Conception School in downtown Los Angeles.

What:

"Cesar's Last Fast" is a multi-platform, cross-media feature work-in-progress documentary about the private sacrifice and deep conviction behind Cesar Chavez' struggle for America's farm workers. The film is built around powerful never-before-seen footage of Cesar's "Fast for Life." The story of this 36-day water-only fast interweaves the historic events that defined the life mission of America's most inspiring Latino leader and shines light on the spiritual landscape that sustained Chavez through decades of struggle. Historic footage includes emotionally charged imagery of figures such as Edward James Olmos, Martin Sheen and Ethyl Kennedy.

The Immaculate Conception School Social Justice Committee will join filmmakers and special guests for an intimate student-led panel discussion in front of a live audience of over 150 students in honor and recognition of the Cesar Chavez holiday.

WHEN & WHERE: Friday, Apr. 1, Regal Cinemas at L.A. Live, 1000 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015. Intros and announcements at 12:30 p.m. Screening starts at 12:45 p.m. (47 minutes) followed by educational panel discussion. Excellent VIDEO and PHOTO opportunity. Interviews available in English and Spanish.

With appreciation to AEG, STAPLES Center Foundation and REGAL Entertainment Group for support of this important educational event.
