In the sassy and spirited production, taped live at Bergen Performing Arts Center in New Jersey, Love brings the house down with 14 fan favorites, including "Da Doo Ron Ron," "A Fine, Fine Boy," "He's A Rebel" and the song she has performed on David Letterman's late night show a record 24 years in a row - "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)."
The definitive voice of the 1960's girl groups and a hand-picked favorite of legendary rock and roll producer Phil Spector, Darlene Love is widely considered the voice that launched a hundred hits. After three years being nominated, she will finally be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a ceremony taking place Monday, March 14th at the Waldorf Astoria, hosted by Elton John. Bette Midler will deliver Darlene Love's induction speech at the gala.
"It's been an incredible year," said Love from her home outside of New York City. "From the concerts, to the album and DVD release, to being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and now THE CONCERT OF LOVE airing on public television stations nationwide! I hope my fans will enjoy watching THE CONCERT OF LOVE as much as I enjoyed making it for them."
THE CONCERT OF LOVE has drawn rave reviews from era icons including radio host Cousin Brucie and rocker Bruce Springsteen. The production includes rare personal insight from Love including her fascinating experiences with Phil Spector.
THE CONCERT OF LOVE is being distributed to public television stations by American Public Television (APT). The DVD, distributed by REEL GOOD PRODUCTIONS, retails for $19.95 and is available at Amazon.com, filmbaby.com, www.theconcertoflove.com, and at 1-888-221-LOV2 (5682).
