Independent All-Energy Television Comes to Houston: Platts Energy Week TV

Deloitte LLP is charter advertiser of Houston syndicated program available on KHOU

HOUSTON, March 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --With energy-related issues increasingly in the headlines not only in the U.S. Gulf Coastal area but worldwide, CBS affiliate KHOU-TV is now bringing Platts Energy Week, the weekly independent all-energy news and talk television program, to the greater Houston metropolitan area.

The program's syndication to Houston was marked at a reception Tuesday night at the Petroleum Club of Houston attended by more than 150 energy executives and media.

"We are proud that Platts Energy Week is expanding into syndication after its first year of production, and excited to join with KHOU to bring the program into one of the most important energy-producing regions in the United States," said Larry Neal, president of Platts, a leading global energy information provider and co-producer of the program. "We would also like to thank Deloitte for its sponsorship in this market and its support with syndication to other key energy markets."

Platts Energy Week, hosted by Platts' Inside Energy Editor Bill Loveless, who brings more than three decades of energy journalism experience to the anchor chair, follows an interview format featuring guests from the Obama Administration, U.S. Congress, U.S. regulatory agencies, the energy industry, think tanks and the investment community.

The 30-minute program is co-produced by Platts, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP), and W*USA-TV, the Washington, D.C., CBS affiliate and flagship television station of Gannett Company (NYSE: GCI) and has been in operation in its founding city of Washington, D.C. since March 2010.

For the convenience of its viewers, KHOU has dedicated two different time slots to the program. It airs on Sundays at 6:30 a.m. Central time on channel 11.1 (available on Comcast on channel 611) and on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. via channel 11.2 (Comcast channel 310). KHOU programming is also available via channel 11 on DirectTV and Dish Network.

While the all-energy program is U.S.-focused and produced in the nation's capital, it reflects the global vantage point of Platts, whose correspondents are stationed in such major energy cities as London, Dubai, Singapore, Tokyo and Moscow.

"We're thrilled that Houston, one of the world's most important energy cities, is the first syndication market for the Platts Energy Week Network and look forward to expanding the network into additional broadcast markets where energy information is particularly relevant," said Allan Horlick, president and general manager of WUSA*9. "There is no better place than Platts Energy Week for those in energy to tell their story and debate the issues."
