FindMeTV Reveals the Nation's Favourite TV Rogue
FindMeTV Reveals the Nation's Favourite TV Rogue
LONDON, February 7, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- They're devious, deceitful and damn unreliable- it's the TV rogue!
FindMeTV, your authoritative TV Guide (http://www.findmetv.com/), asked the
UK public to vote for their all time favourite TV baddie- those men we love
to hate. Below is a list of the top ten.
10) Don Draper (Mad Men)
Don Draper is the protagonist of the popular series Mad Men. His less
admirable qualities, womanising and excessive drinking, are apparently his
ways of dealing with his internal conflicts. Don is the least offensive of
our TV rogues, however deceitful his antics.
9) Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm)
Larry David stars in this partly improvised sitcom in which he plays a
fictionalised version of himself. The character's numerous social faux pas
and cultural misunderstandings are the base of much of his popularity. Men
love this foul mouthed comedian but his style doesn't rate highly with women,
or with the Welsh for that matter.
8) Jack Regan (The Sweeney)
Detective Inspector John 'Jack' Regan is a tough, no-nonsense copper who
repeatedly bends the rules. Jack is rated as a proper rogue by men and the
over 45s, especially by those in the West Midlands. The youngsters of our
poll place Jack at the bottom of their rogue list.
7) Nicholas "Nasty Nick" Bateman (Big Brother)
Nasty Nick was booted out from the Big Brother house after 36 days, after
trying to influence fellow housemates' votes in the weekly eviction process.
Ironically, he was the most popular amongst his housemates, before they
caught onto his dirty tricks. Women love to hate Nasty Nick, whereas men, the
over 35s and Geordies think he's pretty tame on the rogue scale.
6) Jimmy McNulty (The Wire)
McNulty is an Irish American detective in the Baltimore Police Department
in this popular drama. He's disliked by many of his superiors because of his
arrogance, disdain for authority and disrespect for the chain of command.
When off the job, he has frequent problems with money, alcoholism, child
support and relationships. Men love McNulty's rogue antics, as do the under
34s and dwellers in the south of the country.
5) Eric Northman (True Blood)
A relative newcomer to our screens, Eric is the sheriff of Area 5, a
vampire district in True Blood's Louisiana setting. Eric is a powerful member
of the vampire community who strictly enforces vampire law. It seems women
would let Eric take a bite out of them, as would the under 34s! He is the
favourite TV rogue for those in the Midlands.
4) Dexter Morgan (Dexter)
Dexter Morgan works for the Miami Metro Police Department by day and is a
serial killer by night. In both professions he follows a code of ethics and
procedures: he can only kill other murderers and never leave traces to get
caught. The under 24s rate him as their favourite rogue- more so than any
other age group. His devious ploys are also enjoyed by those living in the
East Midlands and Northern Ireland.
3) Tony Soprano (The Sopranos)
The protagonist of this hugely popular mafia drama, Tony is the acting
boss of a feared New Jersey mob. Womanising, drinking and gambling make Tony
the favourite rogue amongst our surveyed men and over 25 year olds. This mob
leader is also rated highly by the Geordies and Northern Irish.
2) Gordon Ramsay (Hell's Kitchen/ The F Word)
Ramsay's fierce temper has contributed to his success. His stern
personality guaranteed him the top spot as television's most terrifying
celebrity in a Radio Times poll consisting of 3,000 people. This fouled mouth
chef offends his female viewers more than men. The under 24s and Geordies
rate him as their top rogue.
1) Dirty Den (EastEnders)
Dirty Den is probably best known for his stormy love-hate relationship
with his alcoholic first wife Angie and involvement with the criminal gang
known as The Firm. He's the TV rogue you most love to hate! Dirty Den tops
our survey regardless of gender, age and location.
