CHESAPEAKE, Va., Feb. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of Black History Month, Cox is pleased to present an array of programming options for its customers during February 2011. These options include local documentaries profiling Hampton Roads leaders; a wide array of On DEMAND titles; and Africa Channel viewing options.

Hampton Roads Black List, On DEMAND

Based on an award-winning HBO documentary (www.blacklistproject.com), "Hampton Roads Black List" is a special program compiling stories of trial and triumph of African-Americans from the Greater Hampton Roads region who have broken barriers in their lifetime. Chosen in concert with the Urban League of Hampton Roads, the 2009 Black List honorees represent a dynamic group of individuals who have made great contributions to the region.

Looking Back, On DEMAND

In September of 1958, Schools in Norfolk closed to prevent 17 African-American students from entering previously segregated schools. They became known as the Norfolk 17.In addition, thousands of other students were displaced from their schools when Norfolk closed them to prevent integration. They became known as the Lost Class of 1959. Cox Communications presents a special look at this tumultuous time 50 years ago. Watch "Looking Back: The End of Massive Resistance in Hampton Roads," presented by Cox 11 with special support from the City of Norfolk and Norfolk Neighborhood Television.

Short Film Presentation: Saint Louis Blues: February 18 at 9 pm: Following Africa First: Behind the Cameras, The Africa Channel will present the world television premiere of Saint Louis Blues, written and directed by Dyana Gaye of Senegal, which was an Official Selection at the 2010 Sundance, Rotterdam, and Toronto International Film Festivals.

Short Film Presentations: The Abyss Boys and The Tunnel; February 25 at 8 pm: The Africa Channel will premiere two additional critically acclaimed shorts produced under the Africa First banner, including The Abyss Boys, an Official Selection of the 2010 Sundance and Berlin International Film Festivals.
