AT&T Brings Consumers Closer to Their Favorite Musicians With Red Light Management

AT&T Brings Consumers Closer to Their Favorite Musicians With Red Light Management

AT&T and Red Light Management utilize mobile barcodes to spur new interaction between fans and entertainers

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* announced today that artist management company Red Light Management has launched its 2D mobile barcode program to offer music lovers new ways to interact with their favorite musicians.

AT&T is working with Red Light Management and their artist roster to deploy a mobile barcode program that provides consumers the ability to use their mobile device to scan barcodes to receive access to special offers and content for their favorite artists.

"Our focus of the mobile barcode program is to offer businesses the opportunity to connect directly with their consumers. This is the latest example of the work AT&T is doing to drive the emergence of new categories of devices and applications that are enhanced by wireless network connectivity," said Robert Russell, Director, Mobile Marketing Solutions, AT&T Business Solutions. "We are excited to work with Red Light Management to help them drive awareness of their artists and promote a new way for fans to interact with their favorite bands."

Currently, Red Light Management has used AT&T's mobile barcode program in promotional campaigns for artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Steel Train and Tim McGraw. In each campaign, fans are encouraged to use their smartphone device to scan a barcode appearing on various promotional materials associated with the artists' tours. Once scanned, the barcodes link fans to special content available on an artist-by-artist basis including free apps, music videos, fan club access and more.

"Our artists are continuously looking for new ways to connect with their fans and get the word out about their latest activities," said Evan Cooper, Red Light Management. "By using AT&T's mobile barcode program, we can effectively promote our artists and give fans the opportunity to keep up with their favorite musicians on-the-go."

In a United States consumer survey, 80% of respondents indicated interest in scanning barcodes with their mobile phone. Sixty-nine percent of those surveyed want to scan barcodes to capture and redeem coupons and discounts(1).
