Upgrade Your Office Betting Pool for the Oscars
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Picktainment.com, the premier destination for awards show competitions, is proud to announce that Oscar pools are available on the site and will be until the start of the Academy Awards telecast on February 27.
In the same way that other sites provide scoring for March Madness pools and fantasy sports leagues, Picktainment.com allows users to join with their friends, family, and co-workers to have a pool for the Oscars, Emmys, and other awards shows.
Formerly known as AwardsPicks.com, the newly renamed Picktainment.com also will fantasy games for American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and other reality shows later this month.
Picktainment is the only site that allows users the ability to pick their own scoring system for their competition. All other sites that host pools simply tally the number of awards that a user picks correctly. Picktainment lets a group leader determine if certain awards will be worth more than others, if picked correctly. Typically the point system is weighted so you get more points for picking Best Picture correctly than Best Art Direction. Whoever has the most points after the award show is over, wins the group.
"Last year we had over 3,000 users participating in Oscar pools," says Picktainment Founder Phil Wallace. "This year, I anticipate a much larger turnout as we have proven that we can provide a successful Oscar game that is flexible and most closely mirrors the functions that people are used to with March Madness pools or fantasy sports sites."
Picktainment also hosts a blog which offers articles and opinions on the entertainment industry.
