UPDATE: Insomniac Celebrates Successful Nocturnal Festival 2010
Music & Art Festival Draws 25,000 Fans to Apache Pass, Texas
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- 25,000 music fans filled the lush grassy fields at Apache Pass in Downtown Texas, a beautiful outdoor campground/venue near Rockdale, 60 minutes outside of Austin, Texas, for the first annual Texas installment of Insomniac Events' Nocturnal Festival.
Insomniac estimated festival attendance at 12,000 on Saturday, September 4th, and at 13,000 on Sunday, September 5th. Insomniac credits the fans along with the hard work of the artists, production staff, security team, support from local officials and the phenomenal setting for making this Nocturnal Festival such a successful event.
Nocturnal Festival is one of Insomniac's cornerstone music festivals, uniting many styles of music culture including indie rock and electronic music. Insomniac presented the first Nocturnal Festival fifteen years ago in Los Angeles for 3,000 fans and the annual festival has grown to over 40,000 fans at last year's event in Los Angeles. 2010 is the first year Insomniac will produce two Nocturnal Festivals - this weekend's successful event in Texas and another one in the Los Angeles area on September 25.
This year's Texas lineup featured four outdoor stages of groundbreaking bands and DJs including Disco Biscuit, Lotus, Pretty Lights, Kid Cudi, Armin Van Buuren, Laidback Luke and Roni Size.
"We are very grateful to have been able to present this contemporary mix of arts and culture at this historic location," said Insomniac's founder, Pasquale Rotella. "The venue is a treasure located between three colleges and it provided the perfect setting for two days of great music, unique art and wonderful times. The Milam County locals, restaurants and motels were all very accommodating--the festival generated good business for the area. We had several options for venues and I have no doubt that we picked the best one."
"We appreciate the cooperation and assistance from county and city officials in making this a safe and enjoyable event for all of our festival attendees," said Rotella. "We're very thankful that so many music fans traveled to join us for the first annual Nocturnal Festival. We're already thinking of ideas for next year."
