Seattle City of Music Names 2010 City of Music Awards Honorees; Announces Month-Long City of Music Festival: October 6 - November 7, 2010

Second Annual City of Music Awards honors Brandi Carlile, Clarence Acox and Scott Brown, and Gerard Schwarz

SEATTLE, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Seattle today announced that Brandi Carlile, Clarence Acox, Scott Brown, and Gerard Schwarz will be honored at this year's City of Music Awards at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at The Showbox at the Market. The second annual City of Music Awards will also serve as the kickoff for the inaugural City of Music Festival - a month-long celebration of music in Seattle.

The City of Music Awards is open to the public free of charge and will feature an awards ceremony and special performances by Northern Departure & M.O.V. from Seattle Theatre Group's More Music @ The Moore, a Garfield and Roosevelt High School All-Star Jazz collaboration, a Big Brass Tribute to Gerard Schwarz, and a special pre-recorded live video performance by Brandi Carlile.

In an ongoing effort to continue to build the 12-year Seattle City of Music Initiative launched in 2008, the City of Seattle also announced the City of Music Festival, which will serve as a platform to celebrate Seattle's music industry and develop Seattle's leadership role in music. This year's festival, which primarily features existing programs and events, will act as a starting point with which to draw new and inspiring musical acts, performances, fans and conversation to Seattle each October over the next decade.
