Breast cancer survivors and area leaders Dr. Jacqueline Walters, Kaedy Kiely, and JaQuitta Williams remind Georgians that Breast Cancer doesn't discriminate
ATLANTA, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- As one of the most well-respected doctors of obstetrics and gynecology in the country, Dr. Jacqueline Walters makes a tremendous impact on the women in this community, providing quality care to a diverse group of patients.
Morning radio personality Kaedy Kiely has entertained Atlantans for almost 25 years serving as the voice of 96 Rock, Z93, and now 97.1 The River. Referred to as "the goddess of radio", Kiely has dedicated her career to interviewing some of the biggest names in the rock and roll industry keeping Atlantans abreast of rock music's news and latest happenings.
WGCL (CBS affiliate) evening news anchor, JaQuitta Williams speaks to Atlantans daily, sharing the news nightly with the Atlanta community.
Together with over 1,000 other walkers and volunteers, this team has partnered to fight the non-discriminating enemy of breast cancer.
As a two-time survivor of this disease, Dr. Walters has pledged her support to the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, a 30-mile walk through Atlanta to raise funds that will directly finance programs in this area that help provide awareness, education, diagnosis, and treatment. Last year alone, the 2-Day dispersed almost $1 million into communities across north Georgia, including grants to the Georgia Cancer Foundation, the Center for Black Women's Wellness, Inc., Athens Regional Foundation, Inc., and Cancer Navigators in Rome, Georgia.
"There is no other way to fight this other than head on by activating our people and empowering our communities," said Dr. Walters.
Kiely wowed her listeners last year when she announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She embraced the Atlanta community during her treatment partnering with other radio personalities to fundraise for breast cancer organizations and promote awareness and early detection with her radio listeners.
When JaQuitta Williams publicly announced her battle against breast cancer, she helped launched a campaign to educate viewers about the disease. She promoted self examinations to help women catch breast cancer earlier.
