'Clocksuckers' Song and Video Hits the Webwaves as the Anthem Against Time Wasters Everywhere
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- There's a new phenom hitting the webwaves, an anthem to anyone who's ever had their time wasted by red tape, corporate bureaucracy, answering machines, form-filling, or inane processes and, if the trend continues to build, "Clocksuckers," the song, video and cell phone ring tone by Indiana farmer-turned-songwriter eDavid, will soon be among the latest YouTube grassroots success stories of 2010. The video is available for viewing on the TheZmus YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/profile?annotation_id=annotation_210873&feature=iv&user =TheZMus. The song and ringtone, along with a variety of "Clocksucker" merchandise, are available for purchase.
"I'm just a farmer," says the 54-year-old Indiana native who prefers to remain anonymous and uses the stage name eDavid. "I've never really aspired to be a songwriter or performer. 'Clocksuckers' was the result of me getting fed up with the people and processes that waste my time on a daily basis. It came to life during a late-night campfire sing with some friends."
When long-time friend and Nashville-based music publisher and producer Russ Zavitson heard the song, he encouraged eDavid to create a video and release the song on YouTube. "The music business right now is in a state of transition, and knowing that eDavid is really just in it for fun, I thought that the YouTube approach would be the perfect way to introduce the song," said Zavitson. "Sometimes we forget that making music should really be about having fun. This song is all about having fun."

Zavitson, who published the 1992 hit "Achy Breaky Heart," said that they are just in the beginning stages of breaking the song and are using several non-traditional, new and social media venues to increase the song's exposure - a significant departure from the traditional approach that relies on major record labels and promoters. "There are other artists and songwriters taking a similar approach," said Zavitson, "and bottom-line I believe this is going to be the new model for independent musicians."
Zavitson Music Group (ZMG), founded in 2005 by Russ Zavitson, Debbie Zavitson and Beverly Miller, is an independent music publishing company based on Music Row in Nashville, Tenn.
