LATV and Wrigley's Propel New Bands to Stardom in 'Vive Tu Musica with 5 Gum' Event
NEW YORK, Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- LATV Networks, the 3-year old national Hispanic television network, has teamed with the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, makers of 5 gum, for a 2nd year of their highly successful "Vive Tu Musica with 5 Gum" nationwide battle of the bands event. As part of this multiplatform musical extravaganza, LATV will air the grand finale concert on Wednesday, October 6 in a television special that will also feature a behind-the-scenes look at the winning band.
Wrigley's "Vive Tu Musica with 5 Gum" features over 100 bands competing for a chance to be selected as one of five amateur, unsigned rock and pop-star hopefuls, who will join superstars Daddy Yankee and Reik in concert at the star-studded event. The competition includes an online talent-search and a nationally televised finale that will result in one winning band receiving a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at a showcase with a major recording studio.
"LATV loves this event because of Wrigley's commitment to make it bigger and better every year," said David Morales, LATV's V.P. of Sales & Distribution. "Securing feature performers like Daddy Yankee and Reik really raised the bar, and resulted in over three times the number of bands entering the competition compared with last year and a record number of fans voting."
The live finale concert will be held at The Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, Calif. on September 21, and later broadcast exclusively on LATV. Fans casting votes for their favorite band will be entered into the "Vive tu Musica with 5 Gum" sweepstakes for chances to win mp3 players, gaming systems, gift cards, free music downloads, and a grand-prize trip for two to see the finale.
In 2009, the Los Angeles-based group Vinyl Soul took home the grand prize at the inaugural "Vive tu Musica with 5 Gum." Vinyl Soul performed in concert with popular Mexican rock group Camila and was awarded the top honor by a judging panel that included Camila, Chilean rocker Beto Cuevas and Mexican alternative rock recording artist Natalia Lafourcade.
