Jackson Browne and David Lindley Say 'Show Me the Polyester'
ENTER A SPECIAL ONLINE CONTEST TO WIN A VIP TRIP TO NYC FOR SOLD-OUT CONCERT AT BEACON THEATRE
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Jackson Browne and David Lindley, currently on tour across the U.S., are asking fans to show off their polyester duds as part of a special online contest at www.showmethepolyester.com. Entrants must upload photos of themselves wearing their favorite -- and most eye-catching -- polyester shirt, in keeping with Browne and Lindley's own onstage presence this summer.
The deadline for photo submissions is August 25, and one winner will be chosen by August 31 for the grand prize of two front row seats to the sold-out Jackson Browne with David Lindley show at NYC's Beacon Theatre on September 14 -- plus business class air travel for two, local ground transportation, and a two-night Manhattan hotel stay. Jackson Browne and David Lindley will personally judge submissions and pick the winning entry.
The Jackson Browne with David Lindley tour launched following the release of Love Is Strange (Inside Recordings), a 2-CD set capturing a tour of Spain they played in 2006. Produced by Jackson Browne and Paul Dieter, Love Is Strange presents songs from throughout Browne's career including "I'm Alive," "Take It Easy," "For Everyman," "Late For The Sky," "Running On Empty," and "The Next Voice You Hear," as well as two of David Lindley's best-known songs, "Mercury Blues" and "El Rayo-X" -- both from the acclaimed 1981 Browne-produced LP of that name.
On record and in concert, Jackson Browne and David Lindley have a musical collaboration reaching back almost 40 years. A legendary stringed-instrument virtuoso, Lindley has played on many of Browne's albums, beginning with 1973's For Everyman, as well as on Late For The Sky, The Pretender (both on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time), and Running On Empty.
In liner notes Browne wrote for Love Is Strange, he considers Lindley's reputation for elusiveness, nearly as mythic as his string-playing prowess. "Why had I not thought of this before? Take him where he doesn't speak the language and he will HAVE TO leave the gig and come with you to the restaurant, or to the club," says Browne. "This was an unexpected strategy breakthrough in a pursuit that for a legion of friends, disciples and admirers has become known as 'stalking the wild Lindley.'"
The breakthrough continues with the not-to-be-missed 2010 Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour, which runs through September 30.
