Dobsons to Greet 'Restoring Honor' Rally Attendees
COLORADO SPRINGS, Co., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. James and Shirley Dobson are scheduled to greet an expected crowd of over 100,000 people in Washington, DC, on Saturday, August 28, at the "Restoring Honor" rally. This event is being organized by radio and TV personality Glenn Beck, and will take place at the Lincoln Memorial on the Washington Mall.
Anticipated for months, Beck's historic rally will reach millions more by television, radio, and the Internet. Although the Dobsons were invited to be at the "Restoring Honor" event, they will be in California over the weekend celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family. Instead, they will address the gathering in Washington by video. At the conclusion of the "Restoring Honor" rally, the Dobsons' message will be posted online at www.myfamilytalk.com.
For nearly 20 years, Mrs. Shirley Dobson has served as National Chairwoman for The National Day of Prayer. Dr. and Mrs. Dobson were joined by hundreds of participants for the NDP event in Washington, D.C. this past May, at the Capitol Building. Millions of others are involved in local National Day of Prayer events throughout the United States. The National Day of Prayer's primary objective is to emphasize the importance of a renewed focus on God, in both personal and national life. It also highlights the historical and spiritual significance of prayer in our nation's history.
Dr. Dobson, a well-known author and child and family development authority, launched a new radio program in May 2010, called Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson. It initially aired on 600 radio stations - the largest launch in Christian radio history - and is now heard on over 900 U.S. radio stations and outlets. Family Talk, hosted by Dr. Dobson, his long-time associate Luanne Crane, and Ryan Dobson, provides insight and advice on a range of family issues. (Dr. Dobson resigned as Chairman from Focus on the Family, the ministry he founded 33 years ago, in February of 2010.)
