Fox Soccer Channel to Showcase 'Match of the Titans' Between AC Milan and Panathinaikos FC at the Silverdome

Friday, August 6 Match Will Be First Live Sports Broadcast from the Silverdome in Eight Years

PONTIAC, Mich., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Fox Soccer Channel will provide live, exclusive English-language coverage of the Friday, August 6 showdown between AC Milan and Panathinaikos FC at 8 p.m. EDT.

The "Match of the Titans" marks the return of international soccer to the Silverdome in Pontiac, Mich. and is the first live sporting event broadcast from the venue since 2002.

Both clubs travel to the U.S. in preparation for their respective domestic seasons as well as UEFA Champions League competition. Italian heavyweight AC Milan - winner of more international titles (22) than any other club - finished 3rd in the 2009/10 Serie A season, while Panathinaikos won the Superleague Greece for its 20th Greek championship. The August 6 match will be the first time the two teams have played each other in North America.

The match will be played on natural grass installed for the event. The Silverdome pioneered the use of live grass for indoor soccer as a host venue for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. As a soccer venue, the Silverdome also hosted the Detroit Express of the North American Soccer League.
