WE tv and Ladies' Home Journal Partner to Honor Women Volunteers With First-Ever WE Do Good Awards
Nominate Everyday Heroes at www.WEVolunteer.tv/WEDoGood.com, Now Through June 30
NEW YORK, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- WE tv (www.wetv.com) and Ladies' Home Journal have partnered to create the WE Do Good Awards, an awards program designed to honor extraordinary women who volunteer their time to help others in need. The program is inspired by WE tv's public affairs campaign WE Volunteer, which encourages women to make a difference in their communities by volunteering just one full day (24 hours) throughout the year. The awards also reflect Ladies' Home Journal's Do Good initiative, which celebrates women and companies who make a positive impact in the lives of people and their communities.
Nominations for the WE Do Good Awards are being accepted now through June 30 at www.WEVolunteer.tv/WEDoGood. To nominate someone, users are asked to submit a 250-word essay on their nominee, her volunteer efforts and why she should win. Once the nominations are tallied, the top five nominees in each award category will be posted online for consumers to vote on their favorite. In addition to individual prizing, the winners will each receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two to New York City, where they will be presented with their award at a special event in late 2010 and a feature story in Ladies' Home Journal, and on www.lhj.com and www.WEVolunteer.tv.
The WE Do Good Awards categories, criteria and prizing are:
