Op-Critical Asks Fans, Do You Want This Song on The Twilight Eclipse Soundtrack? 130,000 Fans Watch on YouTube and Everyone Votes 'Yes'

WASHINGTON, April 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- What does it take to get a song placed on a Twilight soundtrack? Most bands figure its all about music business connections, but one band is trying to find out if fans can make a difference. Op-Critical, a highly acclaimed alternative group from Maryland was challenged by a fan to "write a song that would convey the seductive nature of the Twilight movies while being universally loved." So out of the ether came "Twilight Angel," a tune so haunting yet familiar that it instantly entranced everyone who heard it.

But how does Op-Critical get the deciders at Atlantic Records to take notice of the song when every major artist on earth is lobbying for a slot on the soundtrack? Well, the band again turned to their fans and asked them to make enough noise to get attention from those record execs working in their New York offices. The band put the song up on YouTube with a video collage of Twilight themes and said, paraphrasing Eclipse, "It All Begins With A Choice. You Can Choose To Put This Song On The Twilight Eclipse Soundtrack. View, Rate And Comment." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7gjRqEMLWs

And the fans came through, in waves, spreading the message through Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other social networking, and in two weeks had logged 130,000 views, thousands of thumbs up ratings and seven pages of comments, all voting "Yes" for including the song on the Eclipse soundtrack.

So now the fans have spoken. Will the powers at Atlantic Records hear and respond by honoring their wish? Will Stephanie Meyer, or the Twilight cast step up and side with the fans? Op-Critical's Storm hopes that the powers on high will remember that it was these same fans that made the Twilight series a different find of success. "We would really like to see the same magic that launched the Twilight phenomena continue by letting the fans rather than executives decide to include Twilight Angel on the Eclipse soundtrack. This song really honors the saga and the fans -- it was suggested and inspired by a fan who digs both our music and the series, and then it was the fans who spread the song to their friends all across the web and came in droves to YouTube to hear and vote. Their opinion should be respected."
