California Republican Gubernatorial Candidates Steve Poizner and Meg Whitman to Meet in Televised Debate on May 2nd
One Hour Debate Will be Carried Live Throughout the State and Offered to 27 Public Radio Affiliates Event Sponsored by Comcast, The Silicon Valley Leadership Group, The California Channel, The California Cable & Telecommunications Association, Time Warner Cable, Cox Cable, Charter Communications and The Tech Museum of Innovation
LIVERMORE, Calif., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- WHAT:
A one hour debate between California Republican gubernatorial candidates Steve Poizner and Meg Whitman. The format for the debate will feature a moderator as well as questions from a panel of five political journalists to the candidates, allowing for a two minute "answer" and a one minute "response."
The debate is sponsored by Comcast, The Silicon Valley Leadership Group, The California Channel, The California Cable & Telecommunications Association, Time Warner Cable, Cox Cable, Charter Communications and The Tech Museum of Innovation. The audience at the event will consist of 200 invited guests (please note that all audience members must be invited and confirmed - there will be no walk-ups).
Comcast will be responsible for production of the debate, and is offering audio feeds and a satellite uplink to any media organization interested in carrying the debate or capturing segments for news programming.
The debate will be televised live in high-definition (HD), and shown commercial free throughout the state by The California Channel (http://www.calchannel.com/) and Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104) http://comcasthometown.com/. It will be replayed several times on Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104), and will also be available shortly after the event via Comcast's popular ON DEMAND platform, which is free to Comcast digital customers any time of the day or night. To view via ON DEMAND, Comcast Digital Cable customers can tune to Channel 1 on their Digital Cable lineup or press the ON DEMAND button on their remote control. In addition, Comcast will also provide a live audio feed to KQED-FM which will offer it to its 27 public radio affiliates across California.
The official pool photographer for the debate portion of the event will be from The San Jose Mercury News. Both candidates will be available for interviews and photographs following the debate.
