Zero Motorcycles Joins Star Studded Team in a National Alternative Energy Education Program

- Zero S Electric Motorcycle Shows Green Can Also Be High Performance -

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Zero Motorcycles today announced their partnership with the star-studded team behind the award-winning documentary "FUEL." In conjunction with the documentary's national opening in select cities on September 18th, the team behind "FUEL" created The Veggie Van Organization, a not-for-profit group that aims to facilitate the transition from fossil fuel use to a new green economy using sustainable energy. The Veggie Van Organization will be setting out on a cross-country excursion to promote "FUEL" and educate students of all ages about alternative fuels. Zero Motorcycles is supporting their efforts by contributing a high performance Zero S electric motorcycle to the motorcade. Beginning this week, the entire Veggie Van crew will embark on the 13-city nationwide tour, visiting college campuses and events to promote energy independence.

"Zero Motorcycles is honored to be a part of such a widespread and genuine effort to educate the nation on alternative energy, " says Gene Banman, CEO, Zero Motorcycles. "As a leader in the electric vehicle industry we are excited to contribute a Zero S motorcycle that shows green can also be high performance."

Developed to aggressively take on urban environments and encourage the occasional detour, the Zero S integrates revolutionary technology with innovative motorcycle design. In addition to its performance and maneuverability, the Zero S uses a completely non-toxic lithium ion array and the majority of the motorcycle is fully recyclable. The landfill approved power pack recharges in less than four hours while plugged into a standard 110V or 220V outlet. Eco-friendly with zero emissions, the Zero S is also economy-friendly with an operating cost of less than one cent per mile or kilometer.

The Veggie Van Organization was founded by filmmaker and environmental activist Josh Tickell following the creation of his documentary film "FUEL," a Sundance Film Festival Audience Award Winner for Best Documentary. The film chronicles Tickell's 1998 journey across America in a biodiesel powered "Veggie Van" interviewing politicians, historians, professors and activist celebrities and getting their varying takes on the pressing environmental issues that the nation faces. Examining the ways in which energy can be obtained and used without compromising peace or freedom, "FUEL" features activists and celebrities such as attorney/environmentalist Robert Kennedy, Jr., Virgin founder Richard Branson, singer Sheryl Crow and actress Julia Roberts.
