Connie Talbot, Britain's 8-Year-Old Vocal Star, to Be Featured in Holiday Magic Television Special

ALBANY, N.Y., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Magic will surely be in the air this holiday season! Connie Talbot, the acclaimed 8-year-old British singing sensation, will star in her own one-hour Holiday Magic TV special, to be taped September 24-27th by WVIA Public Media Studios, the PBS affiliate in northeastern Pennsylvania. The exciting special will be the first in the United States for Connie, who initially came to worldwide attention two years ago as a finalist on the mega-popular, Simon Cowell hosted entertainment program Britain's Got Talent.

The high-definition special, produced by WVIA Public Media Studios, will be available nationally to all PBS stations for use from the second week of November through December, and will feature all of the songs from the new CD, Connie Talbot's Holiday Magic, which will be released October 13th. The DVD of the one-hour program, distributed by WVIA Public Media Studios, will also feature additional songs and interview footage with Connie.

"Connie is simply perfect for PBS audiences, and just the right fit this upcoming holiday season," said Bill Kelly, CEO and President of WVIA. "She will warm the hearts of our viewers and families coast to coast." PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) currently has 354 member TV stations in the United States.

The special will be filmed in front of a live audience and will feature the young songbird's renditions of classic holiday tunes, including "Frosty the Snowman," "Ave Maria," "Silent Night" and "Walking In the Air."

Says AAO Chairman Peter G. Kuys, who personally assisted in the creation of the WVIA special, "This is another wonderful step in Connie's career. I think it will be great for PBS, great for Toys for Tots and great for Connie. This audience and demographic is perfect for her talents and reach." Over 60 million people in 39 million households watch public television on-air weekly, with more than 124 million people accessing PBS content either on-air or online in a typical month.

The holiday album and new television special will cap off an incredibly prolific and successful year for the rising star. Connie enjoyed successful hit singles with the classic "I Will Always Love You" and "Three Little Birds," and continual strong sales of her debut album, Over the Rainbow (all released on AAO/Reality). Connie has traveled all over the U.S. and abroad to such locales as Japan and South Korea, where she is a platinum-selling artist.

Recently named child ambassador for the 2009 Marine Toys for Tots campaign, Connie plans to donate part of the proceeds from CD sales in support of the worthy charity.
