Press Junket in Honor of the 50th Anniversary of 'Some Like It Hot'
WHAT: The Hotel del Coronado reels back 50 years to celebrate the
debut of the 1959 comedy classic, "Some Like It Hot." Directed
by Billy Wilder and shot on location at The Del in 1958 and
released the following year, the movie has since become a
legend - voted the No. 1 comedy of all time by the American
Film Institute. Media will have an exclusive opportunity to
interview several people connected to the film including actor,
author and artist Tony Curtis; Laurence Maslon, author of "Some
Like It Hot - the Official 50th Anniversary Companion"; and
some of the members of "Sweet Sue," the original girls in the
band from the movie.

WHO: Tony Curtis
Award-winning actor, author and artist Tony Curtis has starred
in over 140 major motion pictures, including notable films
"Spartacus," "Houdini," "The Defiant Ones," "Operation
Petticoat" and, of course, "Some Like It Hot." He was nominated
for the Academy Award for Best Actor for "The Defiant Ones."
Tony Curtis now enjoys a successful second career as a fine
artist. He will be at The Del to celebrate the 50th anniversary
of the film and showcase his new book "The Making of Some Like
It Hot."
Some members from "Sweet Sue," the original girls in the band
In the classic film, Marilyn Monroe's character "Sugar" is a
ukulele-playing band member of "Sweet Sue and Her Society
Syncopaters." Several of Marilyn's original band mates will be

Laurence Maslon
Laurence Maslon is the author of the new book "Some Like It Hot
Official 50th Anniversary Companion." Maslon is an associate
professor at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He was awarded the
Theatre Museum's 2005 award for the TV series "Broadway: The
American Musical" and has worked on many show business
documentaries. Laurence has also written companion books for
"The Sound of Music" and "South Pacific."
