New Talent for Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The burgeoning Louisiana film industry is about to receive an artistic infusion from two noted illustrators and animation experts who have been making remarkable visual imprints in the business.

Noted author and illustrator William Joyce ("Robots," "Meet the Robinsons") and Reel FX visionary Brandon Oldenburg (clients: Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks) are continuing their collaborative work with the formation of Moonbot Studios, a new digital animation and visual effects company based in Shreveport's emerging InterTech Science Park.

Oldenburg, who earned numerous accolades in establishing Reel FX as one of the nation's leading animation studios, will serve as Senior Creative Director. He is a 1995 graduate of Sarasota's Ringling College of Art and Design and holds a B.F.A. in Illustration and a D.F.O. from the Lunar Lamadary in Nepal.

Joyce and Oldenburg recently sold the animated comedy "The Guardians of Childhood" to Dreamworks, and they previously collaborated on installations for the 100th Anniversary Exhibit for Peter Pan and parade floats for Disney Theme Parks.

Lampton Enochs and Alissa Kantrow of Louisiana Production Consultants announced the formation of Moonbot, which will support the growing film, television, and digital interactive media industries in Louisiana and worldwide, combining the talents of its team and the generous entertainment industry incentives in Louisiana.

Shreveport has taken the state's film-making lead since Hurricane Katrina forced production work out of New Orleans in 2005. Oldenburg, a Ringling trustee and a member of the American Film Institute's board of directors, is excited to be relocating there from Dallas. "Why Shreveport? I liken it to Austin before Austin was cool," Oldenburg explained. "The infrastructure is going to be there to do great stuff."

Already in production at Moonbot is "The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore," the story of a man whose life is erased and who loses everything. Co-directed by Oldenburg and Joyce, Morris Lessmore, with no place to go, finds a new and wonderful world through the curative power of story and is thus inspired to rewrite his own.
