FreeWave Expands Family of Small Form Factor, Light Weight MM2 Radios With New High Speed Option for Military Applications
New embedded technologies offer military OEMs even greater speed and throughput for mission-critical, life or death situations
WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- AUVSI BOOTH # 109 -- FreeWave Technologies (http://www.freewave.com/), manufacturer of the most reliable, high-performance spread spectrum and licensed radios for critical data transmission, today announced it has expanded its industry-leading family of MM2 radios with the addition of two high-speed versions: the MM2-HS-T (TTL interface) and MM2-HS-P (Ethernet interface).
FreeWave's MM2-HS-T and MM2-HS-P add high-speed capability and greater throughput to the already great features of its MM2-T which offers selectable speeds of 115.2 to 153.6 Kbps. The MM2-HS-T and the MM2-HS-P are capable of an over-the-air speed of 1.23 Mbps allowing users to send significantly more data in a shorter period of time. The MM2-HS-T is ideal for embedded applications that require high data rates, such as video and long distances in the same mini (2-inch high x 1.4-inch wide) footprint. The MM2-HS-P is slightly larger, but still very compact in size.
"By offering an entire family of MM2 radios, we are giving our customers options to meet their various applications for embedded technology solutions," said Ken Granader, vice president of sales at FreeWave. "We made a high-speed version of the MM2-T because there are many applications within industry, government, and military where it's necessary to transmit large amounts of data, including multiple hi-res images and video along with data."
The entire family of MM2 radios at FreeWave offers a variety of features that cannot be found anywhere else in the market. Key features of the MM2-HS-T and MM2-HS-P include:
-- Tiny footprint - the MM2-HS-T offers the same miniature dimensions as
the MM2-T (50.8 x 36 x 9.6 millimeters with a weight of 14 grams). The
MM2-HS-P comes in the compact dimensions of 101 x 51 x 13 millimeters
with a weight of 42 grams.
-- Unequalled low signal performance - RISC-based signal demodulation
with matched filter. Sensitivity is specified and guaranteed.
-- Unparalleled signal performance - the GaAs FET RF front end with
multi-stage surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) filters has an unmatched
combination of overload immunity and sensitivity. Selectivity is
specified and guaranteed.
-- Industrial grade high-speed Ethernet (only in the MM2 HS-P) - supports
TCP, industrial grade wireless security and serial communications, all
in one package.
-- Versatile -can be used in a security network as a master, slave,
repeater or master/slave unit depending upon its programming.
-- High noise immunity - offers superior performance in noise-congested
environments.
-- Secure - FreeWave's proprietary spread spectrum technology prevents
detection and unauthorized access; 256-bit AES encryption available.
-- Reliable - 100 percent tested for RF performance from -40 degrees
Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius.
Availability:
The MM2-HS-T and MM2-HS-P will be available for shipment beginning in August. Pricing varies, depending upon OEM configuration. To find out more information about the MM2 family of radios, please visit: http://www.freewave.com/products/category-51.html
