More New Choices Now Available From the No. 1 Video-on-Demand Service - Verizon FiOS TV
New Content From 20th Century Fox, AMC, HSN, Disney Family Movies, Univision, Cinetic Film Buff, American Pop Classics and the Dew Tour
NEW YORK, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- FiOS TV subscribers now can enjoy more home-entertainment choices as Verizon continues to expand its video-on-demand (VOD) programming with several new offerings.
FiOS TV customers now can watch the AMC hit show "Mad Men," shop any time with HSN, and watch classic and contemporary Disney movies and animated shorts from Disney Family Movies. Also, new-release films from 20th Century Fox will now be available in HD on FiOS TV. In addition, FiOS TV customers can enjoy a variety of other new VOD programming: Spanish-language shows from Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision; a variety of films from Cinetic Film Buff; and favorite old movies from American Pop Classics. Exclusive content of behind-the-scenes footage from the Dew Tour has also been added recently.
"Video on Demand is a great entertainment option for people who are cutting expenses by going out less often, or for anyone who simply wants the convenience of watching whatever they want, whenever they want," said Tricia Lynch, director of Video on Demand programming at Verizon. "FiOS TV's ever-growing roster of VOD choices gives our subscribers more entertainment options, and our latest programming additions are great for everyone - kids, film buffs, shoppers, extreme sports fans and our Spanish-speaking viewers."
FiOS TV's newest VOD content comes from AMC. In addition to AMC's miniseries "The Prisoner," Verizon is now offering customers the highly anticipated hit show "Mad Men" on VOD. For customers who enjoy shopping from the comfort of their own home, Verizon has added interactive lifestyle network HSN to the VOD roster. With HSN on VOD, FiOS TV customers can shop for their favorite products within a number of categories, including beauty, fashion and jewelry, health and wellness, electronics, and more.
FiOS TV customers looking for the ultimate family entertainment now can select Disney Family Movies, a subscription on-demand package that features classic and contemporary movies as well as animated shorts from The Walt Disney Studios - all for just $5.99 per month. New titles will be added to the package weekly, with content for everyone from kids to adults.
The Disney Family Movies content joins more than 1,000 movie titles offered each month. And now this includes new content from American Pop Classics and Cinetic Film Buff. With American Pop Classics, customers get previews, clips and full-length feature films from the 1940s through the 1970s, including several free movies every month and featuring Hollywood's biggest stars from those eras - such as Humphrey Bogart, Carey Grant and Shirley Temple. Independent film fans can get their fill of their favorite movies from Cinetic Film Buff, which will provide titles in both HD and SD.
New release titles from 20th Century Fox are also now available on FiOS TV in high definition. Joining the standard-definition films already available from 20th Century Fox are new releases in HD, including "Notorious," "Taken" and "12 Rounds."
For customers looking for Spanish-language content, FiOS TV is now offering content from Univision Communications, which includes titles from the operator's three linear networks - Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision. The content will include sports, family and lifestyle programming, series and dramas, movies, reality TV, news, and more.
Verizon also offers some exclusive content on demand in both HD and SD from the Dew Tour, the season-long action sports tour that features skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross. New content will be added over the course of the five-month tour, which ends in October.
Verizon's FiOS TV customers can access video on demand simply by pressing the "VOD" or "On Demand" button on their remote control, by using the menu on FiOS TV's Interactive Media Guide, or by selecting the VOD channel.
FiOS TV's Video on Demand boasts an industry-leading offering with more than 15,000 titles per month, 70 percent of which are free. This includes everything from popular movies and concerts to exercise and kids programming - all watched in the comfort of consumers' living rooms. FiOS TV VOD also features more than 1,400 HD titles per month, more than 1,100 of which are free.
FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with 500 all-digital channels, including more than 115 HD channels.
