Lake Effect will raise much-needed funds to support Rainbow Hospice's Good Mourning Program for children, teens and families. Good Mourning is the most extensive, family-focused children's bereavement program in the Chicago Area. It has supported thousands of families and children of all ages for more than 20 years. Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care is a non-profit, community-based organization that serves the terminally ill and their families as well as those facing loss in the Chicagoland area.

WHEN:

Friday, August 28, 2009 from 5 p.m. to 12 midnight at the Palmer House in downtown Chicago.

WHAT:

The $75 ticket price includes: 1) Live entertainment by three Chicago-based bands: Rock stars, Plain White T's; Chicago Blues artist Melvin Taylor; and one of President Obama's favorite Chicago groups, the Gentlemen of Leisure Band; 2) Open bars; 3) An amazing array of food stations created by the Palmer House's Executive Chef Stephen Henry and Pastry Chef Fabrice Bouet; and 4) A behind-the-scenes architectural tour of the historic Palmer House.

WHY:

The Palmer House is graciously underwriting the event. This enables 100 percent of ticket proceeds to benefit the children and families served by the Good Mourning Program.
