Motion Picture Services Leader Celebrates 90 Years at Hollywood Facility
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Deluxe Entertainment Services Group announced today the completion of construction and the dedication of the new Bud Stone Building at the company's Hollywood campus. Judy Stone, widow of Bud Stone joined Deluxe President and CEO Cyril Drabinsky, Deluxe Chairman Ronald O. Perelman, and Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa at the dedication and ribbon cutting event held last night in Hollywood.
Deluxe's investment in the Bud Stone Building grows the operating facility to 152,000 square feet that will allow the company to meet increased demand for motion picture film processing and print delivery that continue to be in high demand. The installation of new, higher capacity processing and printing machines in Hollywood will create new efficiencies in handling the theatrical release schedules required by studio customers in the U.S. Updated equipment will allow Deluxe to reduce use of electricity by an estimated 20 percent and realize approximately 25 percent savings on water as part of the company's programs to reduce utility and chemical usage while also reducing, reusing and recycling raw materials during production of motion picture film prints.
The Bud Stone Building is dedicated in memory of Burton "Bud" Stone, a highly respected industry leader in film editing and lab services who served as President of Deluxe from 1976 until he retired in 1994. Throughout his career Stone was recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' John A. Bonner Medal of Commendation for outstanding service and dedication in upholding the high standards of the Academy and was conferred honorary membership in the ASC, a tribute that has only been presented to two dozen individuals of merit, including Thomas Edison, George Eastman and Astronaut "Buzz" Aldrin.
"As Deluxe continues to expand its worldwide footprint to fulfill growing demand for both film and digital services, it is an honor to officially open our newest facility in Hollywood in Bud Stone's name," said Ronald O. Perelman, Chairman of Deluxe.
"By keeping Deluxe's extensive array of creative and production services here in Hollywood, we encourage the highly skilled labor pool and creative community leaders in the motion picture industry to stay within the community," commented Cyril Drabinsky, President and CEO of Deluxe.
A steady employer in Hollywood since 1919, Deluxe maintains a staff of 500 at this location, employs more than 2,100 skilled workers in Southern California and 4,200 worldwide.
