'Mom Turned Author' to Announce New Release on ABC

'Mom Turned Author' to Announce New Release on ABC

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Local author Lucia Campilongo has announced her appearance on ABC's "The View from the Bay" in San Francisco, on July 23rd. She will discuss the touching story behind the release of her new awarding winning 2nd edition, "Lucia's Survival Guide and Cookbook" and prepare one of her favorite recipes.

Lucia's daughter, Gina, will also be appearing on the segment and be the recipient of some of mom's helpful tips. Gina is Lucia's "domestically challenged" daughter for whom the book was originally written. She also appeared with Lucia on a recent The Today Show segment with Meredith Vieira.

From traditional Italian recipes and household tips, to assisting the domestically challenged, Lucia covers it all - with 3 generations of success stories to prove it.

"My 19-year-old daughter was leaving home for the very first time to go off to college. She knew almost nothing about cooking or basic domestic necessities. To this day, I still call her domestically challenged. As a very worried mom, it was clear that something had to be done. No more could I be looking over her shoulder."

In what was a spontaneous labor of love - and fear - Lucia handwrote a survival guide for her daughter, Gina, to take with her to college. Not only did writing the guide calm her own nerves but Lucia is convinced that it helped her daughter survive the year away from home. "It's funny," Lucia says, "Gina and her daughter still use the guide to this day, almost 30 years later."

"The guide has grown into more than I ever could have imagined. It is unbelievable to me that this handwritten notebook landed us on The Today Show and now is a top seller. I am so happy to be able to share a level of expertise that to a great extent has been acquired from previous generations and is often taken for granted in today's lifestyle - or as I say, a diminishing art form."

Lucia is married and a mother of three. Raised in the North Beach District of San Francisco, Lucia and her family currently reside in San Rafael, CA. "Lucia's Survival Guide and Cookbook" is published by iUniverse and can be found at online booksellers everywhere.

"The View from the Bay" can be seen live on ABC 7/KGO-TV in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Spencer Christian and Janelle Wang host this highly rated daily news and variety hour, preceding Oprah on the Bay Area ABC network.
