L'Oreal Paris Signs Kate del Castillo as New Spokesperson

NEW YORK, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- L'Oreal Paris has signed actress Kate del Castillo to an exclusive North American contract (including the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean) as a spokesperson for the company and its beauty brands. Kate's first appearances will be in print and television advertising for Excellence haircolor. The advertising was shot recently in Los Angeles and Paris and is scheduled to debut in the U.S. in the fall of 2009.

"I'm truly honored to join the confident and inspirational group of women who represent the L'Oreal Paris brand," states del Castillo. "It is very exciting for me to say the iconic phrase, 'Porque Tu Lo Vales' to my fellow Latinas and to women all across the country."

"We are so proud to welcome Kate del Castillo into our family of L'Oreal Paris spokespeople," states Karen T. Fondu, president of the L'Oreal Paris Division of L'Oreal USA, Inc. "So many have watched Kate grow to be the captivating and talented actress she is today. With her luminous beauty, inner strength and kind spirit, Kate makes a wonderful addition to the L'Oreal Paris brand and embodies the 'Because I'm Worth It' philosophy."

Kate del Castillo is one of Mexico's most acclaimed and popular actresses, and is becoming a fast rising star in the U.S. as a result of her award-winning performance in the hit Fox Searchlight film, "Under the Same Moon," which recently became the highest-grossing Spanish-language theatrical release in U.S. history. Currently, del Castillo is appearing as a guest star in several episodes of the fifth season of the Showtime hit comedy series "Weeds." She stars as 'Pilar Zuazo,' who shakes up Nancy's (Mary-Louise Parker) romance in a most unexpected way. The episodes featuring del Castillo began airing July 13th. "Weeds" airs on Showtime Mondays at 10 pm PT/ET.

Later this summer, del Castillo will be starring in Univision.com's first-ever webnovela (co-produced by del Castillo), "Vidas Cruzadas" (Crossed Lives), which will be supported by L'Oreal Paris. She will also be appearing in David Harrower's award-winning two-character play "Blackbird" that has entertained audiences around the world.

As the daughter of screen legend Eric del Castillo, Kate started acting at a very young age, but it wasn't until the enormously successful telenovela "Muchachitas" that she became a full-fledged star in Mexico. She went on to become the leading ingenue of nine telenovelas, including "Ramona" and "La Mentira" taking them to the top of the Nielsen charts every time. Her telenovelas continue to air in countries worldwide.
