Kindred Souls Band Hosts Peanut Butter and Jelly Party at Asbury Park's The Saint to Benefit The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties

ASBURY PARK, N.J., July 13 New Jersey based rock band Kindred Souls is holding a "CD and Peanut Butter and Jelly Party" on July 18 at The Saint in Asbury Park on behalf of the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. With the help of about 1,000 volunteers each year, the FoodBank serves over 270 pantries, soup kitchens, and other feeding programs.

"Kate McMahon of The FoodBank explained that they need peanut butter and jelly for children's programs this summer," says Kindred Souls' keyboardist Lon Bachrach.

Every patron who donates a jar of peanut butter or jelly (or cash) for the FoodBank will get a free copy of the new Kindred Souls CD called "Social Ninja." The first 50 patrons over 21 will get a "beer on the band." Plus, everyone will get a free "PB&J" sandwich.

Kindred Souls is also donating half its proceeds from selling copies of its collectors' edition "Social Ninja" CDs, which are packaged in one-of-a-kind covers that are hand illustrated by the band's singer-songwriter Jeff Rafferty. Kindred Souls will also hold an eBay auction for a living room concert with half the proceeds going to the FoodBank. Details can be found at the band's website www.kindred-souls.com.

"We describe ourselves as all original rock flavored with blues, funk, R&B and now peanut butter, " says Jeff Rafferty. The band features bassist Stan Quincy Adams, guitarists Ted Heman and Jeff Samet, and drummer Paul Lavenhar.

"Kindred Souls impresses on their new release, 'Social Ninja.' It's a solid mix of emotionally filled rock songs," says music blogger Annie Reuter, writer for MTV.com and RollingStone.com.

The Saint is located at 601 Main Street in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The show starts at 7:30 on July 18. Also appearing on the bill is Angels Garage whose vocalist Christine Kelly has opened up for acts like Ani DeFranco, Roger McGuinn, and Warren Zevon. A birthday bash for Drew Wajnert of Phanphest.com follows Kindred Souls.

The Saint is one of the top small live music venues in the world and the heart of the Asbury Park music scene. National acts who have performed there include Creed, Jewel, Everlast, and many more. In 1998, Bruce Springsteen taped a BBC televised special there and performed "Born in the USA."
