Network wide Sold Out Shows and Strong International Openings Demonstrate Film's Buzz

LOS ANGELES, June 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ: IMAX; TSX: IMX), DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures today announced advance ticket sales totaling over $3 million from 172 IMAX screens worldwide for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: The IMAX Experience, directed by Michael Bay and featuring scenes filmed with IMAX(R) cameras. With 166 showings already sold out in the U.S., many IMAX(R) theatres have added extra shows including midnight runs to meet the unprecedented consumer demand.

The IMAX release opens in conjunction with the film's nationwide release in conventional theatres on June 24, and will ultimately play on 230 IMAX screens worldwide.

"These strong advance sales figures reinforce the buzz that has surrounded the IMAX release since Michael Bay started using IMAX cameras to film some of the sequences," said IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond. "Our expanding network is giving more moviegoers access to this special release, and we're pleased to see so many of them getting their tickets in advance to secure a seat during opening weekend."

"This is the widest IMAX release in the history of our format, and the network-wide level of enthusiasm for this film is as high as I've ever seen. It's going to be quite a ride," added Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen: The IMAX Experience features select scenes filmed with IMAX cameras. Director Michael Bay has seamlessly integrated the IMAX footage with state-of-the-art CGI and visual effects to create an unprecedented look and feel for the sequel to Transformers.
