DEERFIELD, Ill., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its on-going support to promote the vibrant force of Latino cinema, Tres Generaciones(R) Tequila, the finest triple-distilled tequila brand, announced today the introduction of the COA Award, an award created by the brand to recognize outstanding achievements in the filmmaking industry. In partnership with Ambulante, a non-profit organization that promotes a documentary culture in Mexico and around the world, Tres Generaciones(R) Tequila Brand Ambassador Jaime Salas and Ambulante founders Diego Luna and Pablo Cruz, will present the COA award to Mexican director and producer Natalia Almada at a private reception to be held tomorrow as part of the Los Angeles Film Festival activities.
"Tres Generaciones is excited to continue promoting Latino filmmakers who inspire and draw audiences from around the world with their authentic and high quality cinematic styles that portray our heritage," said Jaime Salas, brand ambassador, Tres Generaciones(R) Tequila. "The COA Award, named after the tool that unlocks the magic of the agave and starts the tequila process, symbolizes the birth of creation, the opening to the realm of talent and creativity."
The introduction of the COA Award is part of Tres Generaciones(R) long-term support to the next generation of filmmakers. The brand has sponsored major film festivals, including the world-renowned Toronto International Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, New York International Latino Film Festival, and the Chicago Latino International Film Festival. In addition, Tres Generaciones(R) is a proud supporter of CANANA, a Mexico-based independent film production company, and Ambulante, a non-profit organization, both founded by producer Pablo Cruz, actor Gael Garcia Bernal (Amores Perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien) and actor Diego Luna (Frida, Y Tu Mama Tambien).
"We are passionate about creating a strong documentary culture around the world, by bringing documentaries to places where they are rarely seen and developing new audiences that can actively participate in a diversified media environment," said Elena Fortes, director, Ambulante Documentary Film Festival. "The Tres Generaciones COA Award attest to the brand's commitment to recognize, support and nourish the new generation of talent luminaries who, like Natalia Almada, work hard to create socially-minded, groundbreaking film projects such as 'El General' that wowed audiences around the world."
Natalia Almada will be the first recipient of the Tres Generaciones(R) COA Award; the award will be given tomorrow night at a private reception hosted by the brand at the W Hotel in Westwood, CA, following her participation in the panel discussion "Spotlight on Ambulante Festival: Filmmaking without Borders" organized by the Los Angeles Film Festival.
Don Cenobio Sauza created his signature tequila in 1873. Passionate about tequila-making, he was the first to create the traditional drink of his region "vino tequila." He was also the first to export tequila to the United States. His knowledge and passion have been passed down and perfected from one generation to the next -- from his son Don Eladio to his grandson Don Francisco Javier, to the craftsmen of today.
