Calling Local Businesses, Corporations, and Restaurants to Donate Goods and Services to Community Event to Feed Detroit's Homeless

DETROIT, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Motown Recording Artist KEM and his management team, Project Producers, LLC are asking local businesses, corporations and restaurants to partner to help make possible a community service event. The day-long event, KEM LIVE @ MACK & THIRD: A CALL TO SERVICE is a free live concert and food drive tentatively scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Detroit. The purpose of this event is to gather food for the area's homeless shelters and food banks; to provide a getaway for Detroiters from the stresses of the economy; to feed the homeless and others in need; and to encourage people to volunteer and give.

The day starts with a private event featuring a motivational message presented by KEM to patrons of Detroit area shelters followed by a meal. Then the event will open to the general public featuring speakers, poets, and musicians; food and craft vendors; and community organizations. The day will culminate with a free concert performance by KEM which will be broadcast LIVE on the internet. Sharing his gift of music, KEM hopes to give people an opportunity to relax and forget the woes of the economy while motivating people to serve in their communities.

In-kind donations of goods and services are needed in the following areas in order to make this event possible: Food Service (Prepared meals and drinks); Hospitality (chairs, tables, etc.); Event Production (generators, Portajohns, etc.); Audio/Video Services (video screens, camera crew, etc.); Promotions/Advertising (billboards, graphic design, etc.); and Crowd Control (security, stanchions, etc.).

As a service for those in need, public health organizations are invited to offer access to free health screenings and resources. Donations are needed for care packages that will be distributed during the Meal and Message portion of the event. Some items needed include: nonperishable snacks, toiletries, water bottles, hand sanitizer, etc.

For more information or to become a partner/sponsor of this event and receive a sponsorship packet, please contact Richard Walker at 313.883.1118. Please send monetary donations to Damascus Entertainment, P.O. BOX 21953, Detroit, MI 48203 or online at paypal.com using kemliveatmacknthird@kemistryrecords.com.

All t-shirt, beverage and financial proceeds from this event will be donated to Transformation Detroit; YWCA - Interim House, Sobriety House; LIFT; Detroit Rescue Mission; and Harbor Light to name a few.
