The new spot television, national print and radio advertisements, and revamped Web site - http://www.spam.com/ - play on the brand's playful personality to give its fans real, useful ways to enjoy SPAM(R) products in new ways.
"Our goal is to build upon the recent success of SPAM(R) product sales by showing our consumers simple and creative ways to use SPAM(R) products more often," said Dan Goldman, senior product manager of SPAM(R) Family of Products. "These advertisements take everyday recipes a step further to say, 'SPAM(R) products can banish mealtime monotony.'"
Launching a cohesive series of messages across all media -- print, television, radio and web -- brings to life the campaign's theme. "Break The Monotony(TM)."
Each of the new national print advertisements feature an ordinary ingredient made extraordinary by adding SPAM(R) products. They also show simple, mouth-watering SPAM(R) recipe images.
Television
By first establishing monotonous situations, the four playful television spots position SPAM(R) products as the hero of unexpected break-through moments. Each scenario quickly becomes a vibrant and colorful scene after SPAM(R) products makes its debut and then introduces one of four different recipes.
Radio
The 10 radio "adlets" involve five-second spots highlighting a quick word association, such as hamburger and SPAMBURGER(R) Hamburger. This campaign marks the first time in seven years that Hormel Foods has launched a national radio campaign for SPAM(R) Family of Products.
SPAM.com
As an additional component to the campaign, the SPAM(TM) Web site was redesigned and refurbished to create a modern home base for the brand and its fans.
The new site promotes the idea that SPAM(R) products are never boring and have the ability to add excitement to your life, especially during mealtime. In addition, SPAM(R) lovers can get all their favorite SPAM(R) merchandise online at http://www.spam.com/.
Creation of the TV, print and radio advertisements was managed by BBDO Minneapolis. TV ads were produced by Laika House of Oregon. Web development was managed by Marsteller Interactive, with Proximity Minneapolis designing and creating Break The Monotony(TM) The Game.
