Cox Business Outfits McConnell Air Force Base with Advanced Voice Services

Cox Business Provides Reliable Communications for Home of the Historic 22nd Air Refueling Wing

WICHITA, Kan., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Business announced today that it recently outfitted the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at McConnell Air Force Base with advanced voice circuits to support ongoing communications requirements at the military installation.

This contract with McConnell AFB is indicative of Cox Business' focused efforts to address the needs of regionally-concentrated vertical industries that require complex telecommunications, including healthcare, education and government organizations.

Cox Business' solution for McConnell AFB includes four PRI (primary rate interface) dedicated circuits that support a block of 7,000 phone numbers. The advanced voice lines will be used to transmit the majority of local inbound and outbound local calling for all base operations. Cox Business also provides video for news and entertainment in several common areas at McConnell AFB.

"Government organizations, and particularly military installations, must have secure communications networks with carrier-class reliability and disaster recovery capabilities," said Nick DiPonzio, vice president of Cox Business Kansas/Arkansas. "Cox Business' robust local network facilities make it a natural fit for serving large military campuses with advanced voice and data needs."

The U.S. armed forces rely on the 22nd Air Refueling Wing to ensure uninterrupted missions. In a similar way, state, local and federal government agencies rely on providers such as Cox Business to maintain critical communications connections.

Cox Business is included in General Services Administration (GSA) schedules in nine states, including the GSA Local Service Acquisition contract in Arizona, California, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Rhode Island and Virginia. Cox Business is also approved for GSA Schedule 70 programs for high-speed Internet and advanced data services in Las Vegas, Nev., Hampton Roads, Va. and its Northern Virginia system that serves Fairfax County, Fredericksburg and other parts of Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In 2008, Cox Business was awarded a place on the GSA Metropolitan Area Agreement (MAA) to provide service to federal government agencies in the city of New Orleans.

Cox Business provides voice, data and video services for nearly 250,000 small and regional businesses, including health care providers, K-12 and higher education, financial institutions and federal, state and local government organizations. Cox Business leads all providers of small and midsize business data solutions in customer satisfaction, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Major Provider Business Telecommunications Study(SM). Cox is currently the seventh largest voice service provider in the U.S. and supports more than 650,000 business phone lines.
