LIVE FROM ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL IN LONDON
WASHINGTON, April 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Choral Arts Society of Washington announces the CD release of Gustav Mahler's Symphony of a Thousand, in which Choral Arts performs with the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Recorded live at St. Paul's Cathedral in July 2008 under the baton of the LSO's Principal Conductor Valery Gergiev, the CD was recorded during two sold-out concerts performed as part of the City of London Festival.
London's Evening Standard said in its recent review, "Gergiev caught the crucial moment of expectation to perfection. But in the end it was the shattering power of several hundred voices, an expanded orchestra and full cathedral organ that delivered the mightiest of Mahler's symphonies with the sonic splendor it demands."
In addition to Choral Arts, the CD includes performances by eight soloists, off-stage brass, the London Symphony Chorus and the Choir of Eltham College. Produced by James Mallinson, the CD runs approximately 77 minutes.
