Steinway Loans Grand Piano for Performances at Paper Mill Playhouse

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Steinway & Sons, makers of the finest pianos in the world, has provided New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse with a stunning Steinway Grand piano for exhibition during performances of the theatre company's production of Master Class, directed by Wendy C. Goldberg. The piano will be featured during all performances of the play's run at the Millburn theatre from March 4 through April 5, 2009.

"We are extremely grateful to Steinway & Sons for their support for Master Class," said Paper Mill's Executive Director Mark W. Jones. "The exceptional quality of Steinway pianos will complement this extraordinary production."

Master Class is the story of renowned opera diva Maria Callas teaching an operatic master class; however, what begins as a class becomes an intimate and revealing look into her life. The play reveals details about Callas' tumultuous affair with Aristotle Onassis, the fierce hatred of her rivals, and her relationship with an unforgiving press. Barbara Walsh will star as Maria Callas; Mark S. Hoebee is Artistic Director and Mark W. Jones is Executive Director. The play was written by Terrence McNally.

"We've grown so accustomed to seeing our magnificent pianos on the concert stage. It's very gratifying for us to see one exhibited on the theatrical stage, as well," said Todd Sanders, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Steinway & Sons. "We value and respect the work the Paper Mill Playhouse does, and we're very happy to provide this beautiful instrument."
