AnySource Media Secures $3.2M in Funding for Internet-Enabled HDTV Platform
MALVERN, Pa., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- AnySource Media, LLC today announced it has secured $3.2 million in additional funding from NextStage Capital, Murex Investments and individual investors from the cable television and video on demand (VOD) industries.
"AnySource Media is the brainchild of digital entertainment experts and technology developers who saw the business opportunity that will impact the consumer's viewing experience of online video content for years to come," said Rob Adams, co-founder and managing partner with NextStage Capital. "The AnySource Media team has proven themselves repeatedly in the past, and we are very pleased to invest in the company."
AnySource Media has developed the Internet Video Navigator(TM) (IVN) platform that includes embedded software residing inside the standard chips of HDTVs and software within the AnySource Data Center. IVN seamlessly combines the convenience and comfort of traditional TV viewing with the richness and variety of video content now available on the Web. With the IVN integrated platform in HDTVs, consumers are able to watch the best of TV and the best of the Internet without a separate box or complicated wiring.
With this round of funding, the AnySource Media team plans to bring their platform to commercialization for multiple HDTV manufacturers, increase the number of content providers and develop new technologies that will provide long-term flexibility for viewing online video on HDTVs.
"This round of funding is a major milestone for the company and perfect timing to support the initial consumer product rollout projected for the second half of 2009," says Mike Harris, CEO and co-founder of AnySource Media. "The ability to tap into the collective resources and market expertise from both investment firms as well as the individual investors will be extremely valuable for our aggressive growth plan."
"AnySource Media brings a new recurring business model to consumer electronics manufacturers," says Fred Allegrezza, chairman of AnySource Media. "The Connected HDTV platform adds a new dimension for the media industry."
AnySource Media is currently working with leading HDTV manufacturers to integrate the IVN client software directly into high-volume, mainstream HDTVs. TV viewers can navigate video actively or passively, selecting sites and jumping to specific videos, or sitting back and watching videos like a traditional broadcast experience.
About AnySource Media
AnySource Media (ASM) provides a turnkey Internet-enabled TV platform, called the Internet Video Navigator(TM) (IVN), to silicon companies and consumer electronics manufacturers of HDTVs worldwide. With this solution, consumers are able to enjoy near limitless "virtual channels" displayed on the HDTV alongside traditional TV networks. The IVN platform includes embedded software inside the TV, a full spectrum of both branded and user-generated video content delivered over a direct Internet connection, as well as a targeted advertising and user management system managed at the IVN Data Center. The IVN Data Center communicates with a wide range of content providers to collect the information necessary to populate the friendly IVN user interface on the television, while being easy to navigate with a standard TV remote control. The content description data is enhanced and normalized so the navigation experience is simple and consistent. The navigation data is then delivered to the TV, along with advertising, preferences, and other transaction information. For more information, please visit http://www.anysource.com/.
