Florida Woman Wins $2 Million Grand Prize Package

LAKELAND, Fla., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- A quiet evening at home in front of the television turned into the surprise event of a lifetime when 58-year-old Cheryl Smith learned she was the winner of the 2009 HGTV Dream Home, a Victorian-style home located in Sonoma, California. Smith, an avid HGTV fan who has entered the giveaway every year for the past 10 years, was watching television with her husband when HGTV's Chi-Lan Lieu knocked on the door of her Lakeland, Florida home. Her joyful surprise at receiving the news was broadcast around the country during the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2009 special on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

"Oh my goodness -- I can't believe this," said a jubilant Smith. "My heart is beating so fast!"
Smith, whose name was drawn from nearly 40 million entries, received the HGTV Dream Home 2009 grand-prize package with a retail value of $2 million. In addition to the new, custom-designed and fully furnished home, the grand prize package includes a matching Doggy Dream Home and 2009 GMC Acadia.
Smith's husband, Joe, who was surprised along with his wife, seemed shocked as well. "This is fantastic," he said. "I can't believe we won!"
Meanwhile, back at the HGTV Dream Home, host Monica Pedersen gave viewers one last look at the 2009 home and invited fans to apply online to be the 2010 HGTV Dream Home Super Fan. Viewers can still see a 360 degree virtual tour of the 2009 HGTV Dream Home in Quick Time, and read Super Fan Gail Fenton's blogs on HGTV.com. In addition, they will soon be able to see the location of the 2010 HGTV Dream Home at Dream Home Central.
