Very few tickets remain, and concert-goers are advised to get theirs soon. Tickets for Ramon Ayala are $55 and are on sale now at Spotlight29.com and at the Spotlight 29 Casino Gift Shop or by calling (800) 585-3737. Show time is 8 p.m.
Ayala has more than 100 albums and countless awards to his credit, including multiple American and Latin Grammy awards. On his last visit to the Valley, Ayala was awarded the Keys to the city of Coachella.
Critics have said that his influence on modern music cannot be overstated, as most norteno groups today use his style as their musical foundation when performing their songs. In the 1990s, when tejano (the modern version of the conjunto style Ayala practically invented) revisited its accordion roots, with synthesizers often replacing the accordion, it was the great master's sound they emulated.
Ayala began playing the accordion at age six, and was soon performing publicly to help support his modest family. His reputation and following grew, and as a teenager, he invented modern conjunto music, and moved norteno music out of the cantina and into the mainstream with an updated music style and lyrics.
To make it a complete New Year's celebration, concert-goers can choose a dinner and show package in the famous JEM Steakhouse. The package includes an incredible four-course dinner with four entrees to choose from: Pine Nut-crusted Colorado Rack of Lamb, Olive Oil-poached Chilean Sea Bass; Deconstructed Beef Oscar with Pan-seared Filet Mignon and Butter-poached Crab Legs, or All-natural Omaha Steak. Dinner and show is $120 per person or dinner only is $90. This package can only be purchased at the Spotlight 29 Gift Shop.
