Latest collaboration to be broadcast tonight on the CBS EVENING NEWS and is featured in BusinessWeek's December 15th issue

NEW YORK, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- CBS News, a leading worldwide news organization, and BusinessWeek, a leading source of global business content, announced today a partnership to collaborate on stories and segments to be broadcast on the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC and appear in BusinessWeek magazine, as well as on their respective websites. The special reports will be cross-promoted via online links, acknowledgements on-air, online and in print, and via ads appearing in BusinessWeek magazine. In 2008, BusinessWeek and CBS News have produced five segments together so far and plan to collaborate more in 2009 across a broad range of topics.

"CBS News is committed to bringing our viewers the most comprehensive, thoughtful and useful reporting on a variety of critical business and health issues and we are pleased to partner with BusinessWeek to offer even greater depth and breadth in our broadcast and online reports," said Sean McManus, President, CBS News and Sports.

BusinessWeek Editor-in-Chief Stephen J. Adler said, "The partnership with CBS is a natural extension of our editorial product, increasing BusinessWeek's reach and providing the best possible reporting to our audience of business leaders. We're excited to continue this collaboration in 2009 with a focus on categories that are of interest to the business community."

The most recent report, which focuses on the business of social networking sites for medical patients, will be broadcast tonight on the CBS EVENING NEWS and is featured in BusinessWeek's December 15th issue, on newsstands now. The report, by CBS News Medical Contributor Dr. Sanjay Gupta and BusinessWeek Senior Writer Catherine Arnst, details websites that allow patients to share insights and manage their care, changing the nature of disease research, drug development, and the business of medicine.

Prior collaborations have included reports on the business of medicine, including a January report by CBS News Medical Correspondent Jon LaPook and BusinessWeek Senior Correspondent John Carey about the controversy over the effectiveness of Lipitor, one of the world's best-selling drugs, and a June spotlight by CBS News Correspondent Wyatt Andrews and BusinessWeek Senior Writer Arlene Weintraub on conflicts of interest focusing on the corporate ties between doctors and pharmaceutical companies.
