MGM and Lakeshore Book Asher for FAME
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Lakeshore Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) Pictures confirmed Asher Book as the final addition to the cast of FAME, a reinvention of the Oscar(R)-winning film from director Kevin Tancharoen. The joint announcement was made today by producer Tom Rosenberg, chairman & CEO of Lakeshore Entertainment and Mary Parent, chairman, MGM Worldwide Motion Picture Group.
Inspired by the 1980 film, FAME follows the education of a group of dancers, singers, actors and artists over four years of tribulation and triumph at the prestigious New York City High School of Performing Arts. Book will play Marco, a charismatic singer from a working class Italian-American family whose vocal skill is matched by his prowess with the opposite sex. "Asher brings an exciting strength as an actor and invaluable experience as a performer to the ensemble," said Parent.
Vice President of production Becky Sloviter is overseeing the film for MGM. FAME opens in theaters on September 25th, 2009.
In addition to guest-starring roles on Medium, Poprocks and Zoey 101 Asher Book is a member of the Warner Brothers Records pop vocal group V Factory. He is represented by Cunningham Escott Slevin & Doherty, Manager Bryan Leder of Management 101 and attorney Bob Myman of Myman Abel Fineman Fox Greenspan Light.
