President-elect Obama's Transition Immigration Policy Team Co-leader Mariano-Florentino 'Tino' Cuellar Gives Exclusive Interview to Azteca America's 'Issues: Caras y Voces'

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Azteca America television network is proud to feature Stanford University professor and co-leader of President-elect Obama's Transition Immigration Policy Team, Mariano-Florentino "Tino" Cuellar, in an exclusive interview on the Monday, December 15 broadcast of "Issues: Caras y Voces," hosted by veteran Latino journalist Armando Guzman.

Professor Cuellar, a trained lawyer and political scientist, has focused his scholarship on the way organizations cope with the legal responsibility of managing complex criminal justice, regulatory and international security problems. During the Clinton Administration, he served at Treasury as Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Enforcement, where he worked on countering domestic and international financial crime, improving border coordination and enhancing anti-corruption measures.

He has served on the boards of numerous organizations, including Asylum Access and the Stanford Center for International Security and Cooperation. He has testified before Congress on immigration policy and separation of powers, and was appointed to the Silicon Valley Blue Ribbon Task Force on Aviation Security. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute.

"What we are working toward in the transition is to present certain options for the President-elect and his new administration that take into account the commitments that he made during his campaign to repair the immigration system," said Professor Cuellar in a news segment broadcast December 9 on the TV Azteca and Azteca America national newscasts in Mexico and the United States in anticipation of the full interview on Dec. 15.

"Issues: Caras y Voces" features top leaders that impact the Hispanic community through one-on-one interviews conducted by Armando Guzman. Covering the White House and the Capitol for almost two decades, Mr. Guzman is one of the most respected correspondents in Washington. The interview forum airs every Monday evening during Noticiero Azteca America, the network news broadcast of Azteca America.

"We are excited to present the insight of Professor Cuellar to our viewers and look forward to sharing future milestones that affect the Latino community through our programming," said Luis J. Echarte, Chairman of Azteca America Network and Fundacion Azteca America.

Past guests of "Issues: Caras y Voces" include: New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL), Congressman Xavier Becerra (D-CA), Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, Congressman Jose E. Serrano (D-NY), Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), NIDA Director Nora Volkow, ACS President Elmer Huerta, Mexican Consul Enrique Escorza, California State Senator Gil Cedillo and former Senator George McGovern.
