ABC Radio Networks Launches The Joe Scarborough Show
DALLAS, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- ABC Radio Networks announced today it has signed Joe Scarborough, the former U.S. Congressman and current host of MSNBC's Morning Joe, to its growing News/Talk portfolio. The Joe Scarborough Show will offer listeners thought-provoking commentary on the day's leading issues and will feature many of the same A-list guests his television audience has come to expect. Mika Brzezinski, who serves as co-host on Scarborough's morning television show, will fill the same role on radio. The program will air Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. ET and launches today on 77 WABC, which will be the flagship station for the show.
"Joe is an engaging media personality with a practical, balanced worldview that resonates in today's environment of right versus left," said Carl Anderson, Senior Vice President of Programming and Distribution for ABC Radio Networks. "We feel this partnership presents us with a strong business opportunity and a compelling piece of programming that stations will want to add to their lineup. Joe and Mika have become an established brand and are both very familiar to the blue chip advertisers we work with."
The Joe Scarborough Show will cover a wide spectrum of topical news with lively discussions on the world of politics and state of the economy while also touching on the everyday stories that grip the country's interest. Content from Morning Joe, including perspectives from regular show contributors like Mike Barnicle and Pat Buchanan, will be utilized on the radio show. The program will take advantage of the popular television hosts' witty, spontaneous delivery style and will also allow Scarborough and Brzezinski the chance to interact with callers on the air.
"We're proud to be hitting the airwaves with the team at ABC Radio Networks and looking forward to the personal discussion we'll be having each day with our audience," said Scarborough. "There are a wide variety of topics we'll be jumping on right away and making our listeners an integral part of the daily banter is going to be fun for everyone."
In addition to his service in Congress, Scarborough was the publisher and editor of the award-winning newspaper The Florida Sun and he holds a law degree from the University of Florida. Brzezinski is an accomplished television journalist who also frequently reports for NBC Nightly News and is an alternating anchor for Weekend Today.
